How many Azores islands can you visit on a 10-day sailing trip?

A 10-day sailing trip typically visits 4 to 5 islands of the Azores archipelago, depending on wind and weather. Common stops include São Miguel, Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Faial and Pico. The route is planned flexibly with the crew, maximising sailing time and island exploration.

Is the 10-day Azores sailing trip good for families?

Yes. The privately chartered catamaran EXPLORA is ideal for families. There a few long legs sailing and this has to be taken as an adventure. The large deck space, stable platform and professional crew make it comfortable for all ages. Children must be able to swim. The crew adapts pace and stops to suit the group.

What is the best time of year for a sailing trip in the Azores?

June to September offers the most stable sailing conditions in the Azores, with calmer seas and lower chance of storms. July and August are peak season with warmest water temperatures. June and September offer quieter anchorages and mild conditions — often preferred by experienced sailors.

Can start or finish the trip in another island than São Miguel?

Yes. You may choose to start or finish your sailing trip on another island of the Azores archipelago.

As SailZen is based in Vila Franca do Campo, São Miguel, a boat relocation fee applies when the trip starts or ends in another port. This fee is calculated at €10 per nautical mile, according to the required repositioning distance and includes, crew, diesel and any other costs.

Possible start or finish locations may include, for example, Horta in Faial , Madalena do Pico , Angra do Heroísmo in Terceira, etc...
